Sem I - Explorations in PT |

Description |
First in a five-course series that explores professional, legal, ethical, and management aspects of development as physical therapy professionals. The course includes the basic concepts of the professional behavioral aspects of the physical therapy profession. Included are historical perspectives of physical therapy, the Florida Physical Therapy Practice Act, the APTA Code of Ethics, an overview of practice parameters, therapeutic presence and the health care delivery system. The relationship of physical therapy to the health care system is investigated. Selected aspects of personal development are considered. Students explore and apply concepts of mentoring by completing a 1:1 mentoring experience. This course is taught in module format with a variety of delivery and assessment methods, and requires the student to engage in active learning strategies. Will meet on four Mondays during the semester. |

Description |
The course integrates the study of information systems science and technology and applies it to the health services administrator. Emphasis is placed on the management of information systems and the application of information technology in health service administration, databases, database management systems, computerized models for clinical and administrative decision-making, and operations in health service organizations.
